Spacing Out = True Awareness?

I‘m sitting outside right now, baskking in sunlight and just relaxing.

I looked into a small field of nature and kept my gaze on there.

And then I spaced out. I‘m sure the guys in here know what I mean:joy:

I just looked forward and there was no thought in my mind. Nothing. Not even that one thought“Wow I am not thinking right now“

Nothing. But during the moment I didn‘t notice that, because I was only being aware.

Only after I got back to me, I realized that this must be as close as I can get to no mind.

Spacing out

A favorite activity
It really releases a lot of mental tension.

When I was little, at my parents’ house, they had a garage that was beneath the floor I was on. In the evenings, I would often go there area-wise, lie down on the summer nights, and watch the stars for hours. Back then, you could see them so much more—maybe we had less artificial lighting as a civilization, and millions of stars were visible. In the evenings, there were quite a few shooting stars, and I constantly made wishes haha.

Very pleasant experiences.

I sometimes still see those very very little stars, but for that the sky has to be fully open.

But usually there are only the big and bright ones that are visible.

Spacing out really feels nice. Literally having no thought at all and just being. And staring farther away relaxes the eyes and the brain. Very important especially in our time here!

Before the war, I was really into spearfishing.

My favorite kind was night hunting. It was not about the catch - sometimes I wouldn’t shoot anything at all. My favorite form of meditation started when I arrived at the reservoir late in the evening, got into the water after sunset, and found myself alone with the space.

Sometimes the waves were strong, and other times it was so calm and cloudless that you had millions of stars all around you. And there I was, floating somewhere alone in my wetsuit, a couple of kilometers from the shore.

Just me, the water, the stars, and such intense silence that it felt like it filled every cell of my body.

These are my best meditations )
