How to Create a DMT-Like Experience Through Breathwork? 🌬️✨

Many people are curious whether it’s possible to access deep, altered states of consciousness simply by using the breath. While science does not confirm that breathwork literally produces DMT in the brain, certain techniques can bring about powerful experiences that feel very similar — vivid visuals, a sense of unity, or profound relaxation.

Here’s a simple practice you can try if you’d like to explore:

The Practice

  1. Inhale – Take a deep breath into your belly, slowly and fully.
  2. Hold with full lungs – Stay with the breath in, without forcing, anywhere from 30 seconds to 1 minute (or whatever feels comfortable).
  3. Exhale – Release the air slowly and fully.
  4. Hold with empty lungs – Remain without air as long as it feels pleasant, then inhale again gently.

Repeat this cycle for about 10–15 minutes to begin with and observe how it affects you.

Setting & Mindset

  • Practice lying down in a safe, comfortable space.
  • Close your eyes, relax, and allow whatever comes up.
  • Approach the session with curiosity, not expectation.

:warning: Important Safety Notes

  • Stop immediately if you feel dizziness, discomfort, or pain.
  • Do NOT attempt if you have heart conditions, epilepsy, psychiatric disorders, or other serious health issues.
  • Never practice in water or unsafe environments (risk of fainting).
  • Remember: this is about altered states of consciousness, not guaranteed DMT release.

:sparkles: Give it a try and share your experiences here — your journey might inspire and help others!

Setting your intention is very important in breathwork too. And also this is bit more advance but let your breath be the intention, is best I can say. Just practice and observe. This is breathwork at it’s core, a growing of awareness. There’s nothing special to do and there’s nothing special to see, everything is at it is. Let your body be the meditation.
