Courage is an ability to endure distress, and the ability to overcome fear and stand up for one’s values. Maya Angelou said once that courage is the most important of the virtues, because without it, no other virtue can be practiced consistently. “You can be kind and true and fair and generous and just, and even merciful, occasionally, but to be that thing time after time, you have to really have courage.” If our loyalty or mercy suddenly evaporates when someone has frightened us enough and made us betray our friends or harm others, than we have lost our virtues since we lacked courage to defy the oppressor and our own fears.
This field will give you the highest expression and understanding of courage and will show you what it feels like to be courageous and give you the belief that you are capable of courage and are able to live courageously.
